VISION OF THE CAPE TOWN HOLOCAUST CENTRE:

The Cape Town Holocaust Centre is dedicated to creating a more caring and just society in which human rights are valued and diversity is respected.

MISSION :

The Cape Town Holocaust Centre

  • Serves as a memorial l to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust and all victims of Nazism
  • Teaches about the consequences of prejudice, racism, discrimination, and human rights violations
  • Examines the roles and responsibilities of individuals, groups and nations, and the consequences of the choices they make
  • Promotes and understanding of the dangers of silence, apathy and indifference
  • Stresses the importance of respecting the dignity of all people and valuing diversity in a pluralistic society.

Education programmes, workshops and seminars are conducted daily at the Holocaust Centre for senior high school pupils, university and college students, members of the civil service and a wide variety of groups from civil society.

BRIEF CURRICULUM VITAE.

1953 – 1996:

  • Studied at the University of Cape Town . Head Woman Student of the University
  • Married – three daughters
  • Practiced as a Speech Therapist
  • Actively engaged in anti-apartheid activities
  • Founder and Director of the Religious Instruction Department that organized the teaching of religious instruction for Jewish children in state schools
  • Taught at Herzlia Senior High school (Subjects: History, Geography, English Literature and Modern Jewish history, and the Holocaust)
  • Deputy Principal Herzlia High School (1992 – 1996)
