Youth Groups

The Global Network of Religions for Children, GNRC, provides spaces for children and young people to learn about peace, ethics, and children’s rights through interfaith and intercultural encounters. There are several worldwide best practices of GNRC groups where children and youth are active in the promotion of the message of peace and mutual understanding.

Many of the activities of the GNRC youth groups are developed following the ethics education programme of
Learning to Live Together.  By using this material, young people are empowered to become more respectful of others, empathic, responsible for their actions and willing to approach others and solve differences with an attitude of reconciliation.

Some examples of youth groups:

1.  The Peace Clubs in Tanzania are an example of children’s active participation in the GNRC activities and a concrete model of how to empower children and youth through interactive methodologies and a shared vision to transform their society.

2.  The Youth Programme in Argentina is an example of a well-structured interfaith collaboration among different organisations to provide a programme on peace education for children and youth living in areas of severe poverty conditions.

3.  The GNRC Youth Group in Belgium is a genuine example of the active participation and leadership of young people to generate concrete actions to transform the world.  The GNRC Youth Group in Belgium gathers youth from 14 to 21 years old who come together to discuss issues related to racism, discrimination based on religion, beliefs and cultural background, and promote spaces to work together to bring peace to their society.  They use Learning to Live Together as the main guideline for the development of their activities.
