How long have you been with GNRC and what got you involved with it?
I have been with GNRC for two years. I came to their conference for the first time when a youth leader in my church asked me to represent the protestant youths.
Which experience with the Arigatou Foundation that motivates you the most to work for children?
Meeting with other youths during the GNRC workshops in Spain (2008) and in Switzerland (2009) was really great, because we motivated each other. It allowed us to exchange ideas. It is important to know that we are not alone.
What are the challenges that you find in your efforts as a peace builder?
The time! I want to help others, but I need to manage my life better as well.
Do you have a message for other youth out there?
Impossible is nothing with God.
What activities have you done to bring the message of Learning to Live Together manual with GNRC in your regions?
We have organized a day of activities with the youth of our town (Louvain-la-Neuve), where we had the opportunity to discuss and debate about social problems that we encounter at home, at school, etc.
Jocelyn, Dora and Nicolas organized their first activity in November 2008. The activity incorporated ice-breakers, the presentation of GNRC and games that helped reflect on diversity. In May 2009 they organized another activity with 16 youth from Belgium to learn about each other, discuss issues regarding racism and discrimination and to consolidate their youth group. The meeting was very successful and they are planning to have more activities in the coming months.
