Ethics Education for Children is an initiative to promote values and ethics for children and young people within the framework of the child’s right to education as stated in the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. It utilizes an innovative approach to interfaith and intercultural learning in a values-based and quality education program for children and young people

About the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children 
The Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children was launched in 2004 to develop and promote the ethics education initiative. The Interfaith 
Council worked activly to bring about a tangible instrument for the promotion of the intiative. In collaboration with UNESCO and UNICEF and supported by the Arigatou Foundation and the GNRC network, the educational manual Learning to Live Together was launched in May 2008. 

The activity report of the work in 2005 - 2007 gives a comprehensive account of the groundwork and foundation of the ethics education programme that the Interfaith Council laid and established.  

Role of the Interfaith Council today
Members of the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children continue to serve as resouce persons for the promotion and implementation of ethics education for children through dialogue, partnership and action including both theory and practice of ethics education for children.

Guided by the initial Vision and Mission of the Interfaith Council, resource persons who have been engaged all along the process today work in specific groups to 

• determine the overall direction for the promotion of ethics education

• develope and revise overall strategy for promoting ethics education, monitor and evaluate cases of implementation

• examine and make recommendations on various issues pertaining to the promotion of ethics education.

• advocate the implementation of ethics education for children around the world

The Arigatou International office in Geneva  continues to serve as the Ethics Education Secretariat tasked to coordinate the work of the various working groups. The secretariat continue to work on the resourcing of the manual, organises training courses in how to use it and issues reports on ethics education activities around the world.
